Restaurant Week 2010: Bargain High-End Meals
Now in its 10th year, Boston Restaurant Week | Summer 2010 will kick into gear next month. Fine restaurants in the Boston area will offer reduced-price versions of their cuisine, giving thrifty diners opportunities to eat well at a discount.
For two weeks in August (August 15-20 and August 22-27), Restaurant Week returns to Greater Boston, with over 200 restaurants participating this year. Restaurants will feature 2-course lunches for $15.10, 3-course lunches for $20.10 and 3-course dinners for $33.10. Details are available at the “Insider’s Guide to Boston Restaurant Week,” along with access to menus, restaurant information, and links for making reservations.
The original idea behind Restaurant Week was to help local restaurants increase their traffic in the normally-slow weeks in August by offering discounted fare. Taking advantage of Restaurant Week is also a way to try out a new restaurant without paying their standard price. Now that the week has become a popular event, reservations are getting harder to come by, so if you’re interested it makes sense to book early.
A few participating restaurants are offering their Restaurant Week menus all through the month of August. If you want regular updates on what’s going on at participating restaurants, you can get them via twitter at http://twitter.com/RestoWeekBoston.
If you live in Providence, RI, Providence Restaurant Week is already in full swing from now until July 24th.
If you live in another city, try doing an internet search for “restaurant week” with the name of your town – the concept has been spreading all over the country. Each Restaurant Week city follows its own schedule, so be sure to pay attention to the dates for your area.
